How to use Content Blocks?

Focus:  The focus of this self-help article is to provide steps and information about the PandaDoc Document Builder “Content Blocks”

What is are Content Blocks?: Content blocks can be added when you create new documents or new templates. Content blocks are way to add text/images to your document/templates. PandaDoc has many different types of blocks, they are: “Heading”, “Text”, “Image”, “Video”, “Table”, “Pricing table”, “Page Break”, “TOC”, “Cover Page”, “Page Header”, “Page Footer”, “Attachment”. In this example, we will be creating a new template.

Step 1: Create a document/template. Click on “New Document/New Template” on the upper right and then click on “Create a Doc”/”Create a template”.

Step 2: Adding the Content Blocks. Over on the right, click and drag the text block over and then you can add your text. In this example, we will add a “Text Block”.

To add other blocks, simple drag and drop them.

Step 3: Block Layout Options. For the “Heading”, “Text” and “Image” content blocks, each one of these has its own layout options. For text, you will see “Text”, “IMG Left” and “IMG Right”.

To view the layout options for other blocks, click on each link: “Heading”, “Image”, “Video“, “Table Block”, “Pricing Table Block”, “TOC”, “Cover Page”, “Page Header”, “Page Footer”, “Attachment“.

Step 4: Adding text and other content.  Once you have added the block and select the layout, now you can add content and modify the text. You will see options for Bold, Italics, Underline, layout justification (Left, Center, Right), Number points and bullet points, hyperlinking and adding images.

Step 5: Copying a block At any time you can copy a block and the new version will show below the block that you have copied. We do this by going into the content block options, click the “…” and then Copy a block. Click here to learn more.

Step 6: Add to Content Library Using the blocks, you can add them to the Content Library to be used again. We do this by going into the content block options, click the “…” and then Add to Content Library. Click here to learn more.

Step 7: Moving Content Blocks At any time, you can move the blocks up and down in the editor. Click on the block, then on the top left you will see an black icon, click and hold with your mouse and then you can move up and down. Shown below is an example of moving  text block above and below another block.

Step 8: Adding Fields You can also add PandaDoc fields if you have content that you wish to fill out by your recipients of the document.  Please note: Fields can only be added inside of the block.  In this example, we will be adding a Signature block.

For more information about the other fields you can add, click on each link: “TextField”, “Dropdown“, “Signature”, “Initials”, “Date” and “Checkbox”.

Step 9: Undo and restore a deletion of a block. If you have accidentally deleted a block, there is an option to “Undo” this. If you miss the Undo button, you can go to More > Deleted Blocks to restore the block. These deleted blocks will be available in the “Deleted Blocks” section for 7 days.

Step 10: Continue to add the rest of your content. Explore the other blocks and then start sending out documents.
